Little Will's New Duds

It seems that it is the season for babies.  My friend Rachel just welcomed little Will into the world at the beginning of July and these were his new duds I made for him.  I really think they were his favorite gift he has received so far.

Something casual for his dirt bike rides with daddy...

And something a little more dressy for a night out with mommy...

Both projects were from tutorials I found on Crap I've Made.  All these baby projects lately have taught me one thing...if ever I were to be expecting my own baby I just might have to find out the sex early so I can get busy making all these fun projects for them...while there is still free time in the day.

Baby Surprise

I have a new gift giving pen pal and her name is Terri.  She works with my mom and we've never met before.  Just before my wedding this past May my mom showed up with the most fantastic hand painted coasters from Terri as a gift to my new hubby and I.  Having never met her before, I automatically pictured her as someone close to my mom's age with short hair and approaching retirement.  How is it that we can imagine something that is so far from the truth...Terri is similar in age to me and is expecting her first baby girl any day.  When I found out she was having a shower at work I just had to whip up something to return her gift giving generosities from our wedding.

Baby burp cloths and matching bib...

I found an excellent tutorial for boutique style burp cloths on Crap I've Made (which has recently become one of my new favorite blogs to stalk).  I modified it slightly by adding a patch work strip down the middle.  The strip was made with 4-patches sewn using "Love U" charm squares from Moda.  The bib was just something extra for fun....and because the cupcake was just too cute.  (It's from Bunnycup Embroidery...they have lots of really cute stuff if you like embroidery.)

I created this tag for the burp cloths just to make sure she knew what they were to be used for.  Call me crazy but I've never had babies so I wouldn't have know that babies are suppose to puke and drool all over something so pretty.

In the end I think Terri liked them and I heard she didn't even realize they were hand made until someone pointed it out to her later.

It's about time!!

After countless hours of being a silent stalker of all the wonderful blogs out there I've decided that it's time to make my own foot print in the world.  So here goes...

I'm a newly married Kentucky girl that loves to make stuff.  I'm up for just about anything but I tend to gravitate towards sewing and quilt-y things.  About 6 or 7 years ago I worked in a little sewing machine store in Louisville, KY.  I heard countless times from the women that would come in that they had finally retired or their children had all just gone away to college so now it was their turn to upgrade their machine to the latest of greatest.  I decided...to heck with that...I'm not waiting 40 more years to get the best.  So I bought myself a top of the line Pfaff and have been sewing ever since and it has been worth every penny.

So my goal with this blog is to post something new every week (maybe that will motivate me to finish all those unfinished projects I have laying around).  Either way....hold on to your scissors blogging world!!  I just might have something interesting to say.
