Father's Day Onesie

I think the hubs feels like he always gets the short end of the stick when it comes to cute baby clothes that proclaim our little munchkin's love for us as his parents.  So for father's day I tried to make up for this short coming.

It was a super fast and easy project using a freezer paper template and fabric paint.  I followed this tutorial.  I used fabric paint from Michaels and after 1 washing this paint still looks as good as new.  I'm excited to try out some other designs using this technique since it was so easy.

Cody loved it, can't you tell?

I just love that face!!

Rainbow Stars

The International Quilt Festival came to Cincinnati this past weekend and with it was a fantastic display of quilts including the Cincinnati Modern Quilt Guild's Ohio Star Challenge.  Here was my modern take on the traditional Ohio Star block...

Rainbow Stars (front)

The quilting on this one was a lot of fun.  I wanted the Ohio star to show up in the quilting and not just in the pieced blocks.

The best part about having my quilt hanging at such a huge show was just standing back and watching the people walk by and check it out....stepping in closer for a better view.

This was also my first quilt show with a new challenge in store....navigating the crowds with a stroller (which contained a screaming baby at times).  I really think he liked looking at all the quilts with their bright colors and interesting patterns.  Surely this one must have been his favorite.

Long posting.  I've still been busy crafting though.  Most importantly I was working on this little guy...

Love that face!!

Anyhow, since the little guy has arrived I thought I would share the quilt I made for him.

His room ended up taking on a bit of a Dr. Seuss theme (more of that in a later post) so I just had to make him a quilt to match.

The back...

The images on the back were pieces of a panel fabric from the Dr. Seuss line.

And with the left over scraps I made some stuff blocks for him to play with.  Just excuse my big belly and creepy shadows....this pic was just 1 week before the little guy was born.

While I can't say that the little man has always loved lounging on this quilt I will say that he usually enjoys looking at all the bright contrasting fabrics.
